While the Pictured Rocks has several pet-friendly areas, there are a few rustic trails that are not suitable for dogs … that’s why it’s best to know before you go!

A popular spot for sunbathing and seeing amazing sunsets over Munising Bay, Sand Point Beach is known for its pink sand from crushed sandstone and views of Grand Island. This is the perfect place to take a dip in the lake and walk along the shoreline with your best pal.

Located just two miles to the east of downtown Munising, this 50-foot waterfall is easily accessible. To get to it, park and take a short stroll on a paved trail alongside Munising Creek. This will lead you to the central platform where you can view the breathtaking falls. In addition, there are two sets of stairs that will take you to elevated platforms.

Erected in the 1800s, this magnificent 86-foot structure is located approximately 12 miles west of Grand Marais and is surrounded by towering pines and birch trees. A 1.5-mile pathway leads to the lighthouse, and tours are offered throughout the late summer and autumn months, subject to staffing availability. However, dogs are only permitted on the grounds, not inside the buildings.
